Mrs. Polly Slaughter Brown, age 77, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late William Glenn Slaughter and the late Almeda Catherine Holt Slaughter. Polly worked in finance for many years as a loan officer and later was the owner operator of Beach Bingo. She was a member of Alamance Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her three grandchildren, Harry Donald "Trey" (Danielle) Rippy III, Tiffany R. (John) Miller and Adam Harrison Rippy; two great grandchildren, Camryn Miller and Kaylee Rippy; three sisters, Catherine S. (Jimmy) Sharpe, Laura S. (Ritchie) Phillips and Pamela S. (Kenneth Cook) Faucette; a sister-in-law, Ann Slaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harry Donald "Buddy" Rippy, Jr.; and two brothers, William "Bill" Slaughter and Bob Slaughter.
A cryptside service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, April 2, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Rev. Robert Hawkins. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 PM Monday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Springview Assisted Living, especially Ashley Harris, for their loving and compassionate care of Polly.
