Graham - Phyllis Nan Thompson Stiltner, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born in Alamance County on January 10, 1947 to the late Grover Edward and Osie Nan Carroll Thompson and was the wife of 52 ½ years to John Richard Stiltner of the home.
Phyllis was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Above all else, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Stiltner of the home; daughters, Debbie Qualls (Brad), Patricia Townsend, Denise Coble and fiancé Nathan; sons, John M. Stiltner (Jackie), Richard Stiltner and fiancé Carrie; grandchildren, Brandon Elkins (Jessica), Jared Elkins (Amy), Noelle Trogdon (Brandon), Holden Qualls, Aundrea Townsend and fiancé Jerry, Makala Townsend, Kara Townsend, Megan Coble, Logan Coble, Mitchell Stiltner, Katie Stiltner, Hannah Stiltner, Nic Stiltner; great grandchildren, Victoria Elkins, Jaxon Elkins, Peyton Elkins, Owen Trogdon, Emerson Trogdon, Taylor Evans and Landon Evans; sisters, Bonnie T. May (Ricky), Angie T. Koehler, Sandy T. Payne (Dennis) and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Adelle Shackleford and Jackie Ayers.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held 3:00pm on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Hobbs with a private burial to follow at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-2:45pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Stiltner family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church 1525 Flora Ave., Burlington, NC 27217 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
