Phyllis Monk

Burlington - Phyllis Ruth Monk, 73, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at her home. She was born on May 24, 1945 in Durham County to the late Andrew Jackson "Jack" Monk and Ruth Elizabeth Phelps Monk.

Phyllis retired after 20 years with McPherson Dry Cleaners in Burlington. She was a graduate of Aycock High School, Class of 1963.

She is survived by her brother, Carl Douglas Monk and wife, Bobbie; nieces, Jane Breitmeier Wilkerson, Dawn Lynch Potts and husband, Bob and Sandi Drozdik; nephews, David Monk, Jonathan Monk, Michael Monk and Mark Lynch; great niece, Jessica Dunlap and several other great nieces and great nephews; cousins, Kathy P. Oakley and Sharon P. Butler and several other cousins and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wanda M. Breitmeir and Margot M. Lynch; and brothers, Lloyd Monk, Colin Monk and Neil Monk.

The celebration service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Carr United Methodist Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers, with the inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
