Phyllis Ann Dawson

Phyllis Ann Dawson, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late John William Dawson and Decie Oetis Boone Dawson. 

She grew up in Gibsonville, NC on her parent’s farm on Bethel Church Road with many cousins and lifelong friends. Phyllis attended Brightwood Christian Church and was a member there for several years. Phyllis attended Gibsonville School and was a graduate of Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA. She was formerly employed by General Electric Information Services Co., Panduit and Belk. She enjoyed knitting, painting, reading and taking trips to Wrightsville Beach. 

She is survived by her children, Laurie Shockley Lewis and her husband Dean, Wendy Shockley Busic and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Chelsea Lewis Burkey and her husband Chris, Jordan William Lewis and his wife Abby, Taylor Lewis Sherman and her husband Jake, Madison Michelle Busic and Michael Lee Busic; and a great granddaughter, Lyla James Sherman.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Daryl Lewis with interment to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
