Peggy Jane Burdette Summers, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Mobile, AL on February 4, 1935 to the late Drennan Allison Burdette and Fannie Mae White Burdette and was the wife of 65 years to her sweetheart of whom she met in Pensacola, FL the late Bobby Lee Summers who died in 2018.
Peggy retired after 11 years with O’Neal Steel and 24 years with Carolina Steel. She was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church; she loved shopping and traveling with Bobby in their motor home. Peggy enjoyed spending time at The Barn Dance in Julian on Saturday nights with her husband and friends, who are better known as family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Pat Poe Norton and significant other Ronnie Kirkman of Graham and Cindy Phillips Tiralosi and husband Mark of Heathrow, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Leigh Poole and husband Keith, Matthew Dean Phillips fiancé Beth Oakley, Tyler Drake Guy, Alison Poe Gordon and husband Robert, Tiffany Dawn Phillips and fiancé Dustin Sasser, Travis Sumner Guy, Matthew Tiralosi and Megan Tiralosi; great grandchildren, Mason Gordon, Conner Gordon, Braedon Poole, Ada Marley, Maverick Phillips, Addie Sasser, Tommy Oakley and Tyson Oakley; sister-in-law, Betty Isley; niece, Sandra Coble and a nephew, Tommy Isley and wife, Donna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; a daughter, Kathy Powell Guy; grandson, Jeff Norton; great granddaughter, Hannah Gordon; parents; and sons-in-law, Dean Norton and Tony Guy.
A service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J.D. Weed with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at Pat’s home in Graham.
In honor of Peggy, the family requests that attire for the funeral be casual or jeans.
