Peggy Ann Wright Truitt, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 3, 1937 in Grayson County, VA to the late Wilbur Bruce Wright and Gladys Virginia Hawks Wright.
Peggy retired after 44 years from Carolina Biological Supply Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon. She was a simple woman who enjoyed working in her yard and won the Beautification Award several times. Peggy adored and loved her family mostly her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she was known as the “Neighborhood Grandma” to the other families too.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Truitt McPherson and husband Keith; a son, Robert Gerald Truitt and wife Lori; grandsons, Ricky Busick and wife Shirley, Joshua Busick and wife Amber, Chip Huskey and wife, Cheryl, Matthew and Danielle Melkus; great grandchildren, Audrey, Avery, Rylee, Anthony and Truitt; a brother, Hascal Wright and wife Anne; her sisters, Maxine Robertson, Betty Holder and Nancy Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Also, her special friend, Silas Whitt.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathryn Truitt Saunders; sisters, Alese Bryant, Christine Wright, Doris Jones, and Sue Lineberry; and her brothers, Lester, Clifford, Dale, Jack, Ray, Don, Bill, Jimmy, and Ronnie Wright.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. David Durham. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Annie Morrison and her staff at Haven Home Care as well as the Headen’s for their loving care and compassion that was shown to their mother during her illness, and to her church family for all their prayers and support.
