Peggy Jean Strickland

Peggy Jean Neese Strickland, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Alamance House following several years of failing health.   A native of Alamance County, she was born February 22, 1934 to the late Colin Bernard and Bessie Mozelle Hawk Neese and was the wife of 61 years to the late Leonard Grady Strickland.  

Peggy attended Open Bible Baptist Church.  She enjoyed family trips to the mountains at Hanging Rock and treasured time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Carol Smith and husband, Garland; her three sons, Kenneth Shawn Strickland, William Keith Strickland, and Curtis Dwayne Strickland; grandchildren, Robert, Theresa, Johnny, Tammy, Brandy, Tonya, Misty, Whitney and Marcel; twenty-three great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; her two sisters,  Patricia Mashburn and Glenda Guthrie; and a brother, Howard Neese. Alongside her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy Demick and three sisters, Betty Vance, Margaret Edwards and Eleanor Gray Neese.

A service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Pruitt with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
