Mrs. Peggy Ann Harden Straughan, age 67 of 2362 Carolina Rd., passed away at 4:32 PM, Wednesday March 5, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Jack Roosevelt Straughan who survives and the daughter of the late James Garland and Addie Sutton Harden, Sr. She was a former employee of Barbee Fabrics and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She was an example of a Christian . "mother figure". She loved cooking and helping other people. Survivors include her husband, Jack R. Straughan of the home; sons, Richard Straughan of Alamance and Timothy Straughan and wife Angela of Julian; daughter, Melinda Agnew and husband Darryl of Burlington; step daughter, Patty Lee and husband Rick of Elon; sisters, Ellen Burchell of Graham, Ruth Smith and husband Jimmy of Burlington, Sue Hornaday and husband Jerry of Elon, Theda Jones and husband Bill of Burlington and Brenda Watkins and husband James of Reidsville; brother, James Harden, Jr. of Burlington; grandchildren, Dwayne, Britany, Gene, Casey and Eddie Straughan, Ann and Nikki Wynn; step grandchildren, Blake Agnew, Kevin, Angela and Josh Lee; 4 step great grandchildren, Ramsey, Jordan, Logan and Taylor Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, June Carol Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Howard Thompson and Rev. Mike Jones. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Straughan will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 PM Friday and other times at the residence. The family would like to thank Cory Langley and family for all their help during their mothers illness.
