Elon, NC Peggy B. Slaughter, age 76 passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 with her husband Frank of 49 years by her side at their home. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late Walter Willard Brantley and Pearlie Mae Ritchie Brantley. Peggy was a homemaker and member of Wicker Street Baptist Church. She spent her lifetime working with crafts including embroidery, flower design, painting ducks. She loved and collected porcelain dolls and angels during her lifetime and was an avid fan of nascar, wrestling and baseball. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Lewis Slaughter of the home; daughters, Margie Johnson and her husband, Johnny of Elon, Darlene Long and her husband, Anthony "Anky" of Burlington and Katrina Benton of Elon; sons, Leonard "Len" Farrar and his wife, Betty of Burlington, Jeffrey "Jeff" Farrar and his wife, Suzanna of Omaha, Nebraska and Victor "Vic" Slaughter and his wife, Glenda of Burlington; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a special friend, Brenda Walker of Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Willard Earl "Bill" Brantley. Peggy's family would like to thank the nurses Mark, Karen, Ruby and Lori with Hospice who cared for Peggy at home and all the nurses and staff of Hospice for all their caring support. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Hospice Chaplain Susan Kane and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
