Peggy Jo Mills, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by her family. A native of Alamance County, she was born on December 22, 1946 to the late Howard Boland and Annie Maude Moody Shepherd.
Peggy was a lifetime member of Elon First United Methodist Church. She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend who is leaving a legacy of love and kindness. Known for her ever-present smile and warm demeanor, Peggy made everyone feel special. To know Peggy was to love her. She was always ready to help and cared deeply for her family and anyone who came her way. She enjoyed going on cruises and always put others before herself. Her "love you more" and "hey honey" greeting will be dearly missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Buddy Mills; daughters, Jody Weaver (Rodney) and Jill Morgan (Tom); sons, Bryan Mills (Jenn) and Brandon Mills; grandchildren, Jordan Kwaiser (Dylan), Rachel Weaver, Kelsey Flowers (Bobby), Hunter Morgan, Jacob Gatewood, Maddy Mills, Gracie Mills, Bella Mills, Olivia Spangler and Christian Mills; great-grandchildren, Jason Kwaiser, Dawson Kwaiser and Sutton Flowers; sister, Margaret Patton and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the funeral home and other times at the home of Rodney and Jody Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elon First United Methodist Church, 1630 Westbrook Ave, Elon, NC 27244.
