Paula Bonet Cortes

Burlington – Paula Bonet Cortes, 95, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to the late Jose Bonet and Leonor Mercado and was married to Pedro Cortez who passed in 2009.

Paula moved from Puerto Rico to The Bronx, New York in the early 1950’s where she met her husband and raised her family. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church until she moved to Florida in the late 1980’s and joined First Baptist Church of Palm Coast. In 2007, she moved to North Carolina to be close to family. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and anything having to do with plants and flowers. She loved learning new things and was passionate about education. She was a wonderful caretaker and mother to her children.

She is survived by her son Angel Dominguez, daughters; Olga Vega and husband Joaquin, Priscilla Williams, Maria Cortes, Evelyn Agueda and husband Juan, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters; Milagros Bonet Martinez and husband Hector, and Angela Bonet Morales, brothers; Jose Bonet, Jr. and wife Lydia, Angel Luis Bonet and wife Inez, Antonio Bonet and wife Maria. She was preceded in death by her husband Pedro Cortez, brother Gilberto Bonet and sister Carmen Milagros Bonet Ruiz.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 on Thursday, August 11, 2022 by Pastor David Neff and Pastor Natividad Soriano. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 prior to service at the funeral home.
