Paul R. "PawPaw" Wyrick, 78, entered the gates of Heaven on December 11, 2012 . Paul was born July 11, 1934 to the late William Oscar and Daisy Watkins Wyrick. He was a stalwart member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Gibsonville. He was a member of the choir, a former Sunday School teacher, and a former Church Council member. He was a former member of the Board of Directors for Fire District 28, and frequently served as a poll worker during elections for the voting precinct at Fire Station 28. Paul retired from the Sears Mail Order Plant in Greensboro, after 40 years of service. In his retirement years, Paul pursued numerous interests, particularly at Friedens where he remained in the choir until 2008, prepared weekly Communion for more than 25 years, and helped establish and build the childrens' playground. Paul was an avid "Bleed-blue" fan of the UNC Tarheels and an equally avid New York Yankees fan. Paul was enamored with Chihuahuas, having owned many over the years. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Daisy, a brother Clarence and a sister Elsie Wyrick Suggs. Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth, of the Whitestone Community in Greensboro; a sister Edna Weisner of Gibsonville, daughter Kathy Joyce Joseph of Greensboro; grandchildren, Christopher Wrenn of Charlotte, Karoline, Keaton, and Kylie Joyce of Greensboro and a sister-in-law Ellen Wyrick of Bridgewater, VA. The family will receive visitors Thursday, December 13 from 6:00 8:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington. Paul's Remembrance Celebration will be held Friday, December 14 at Friedens Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM by Pastor Bill Zima. There will be a private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Children's Ministry of Friedens Lutheran Church, 6001 NC 61 Hwy North, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, Suite 103, Greensboro, NC 27407.
