Paul Douglas Johnson

July 26, 1978 — November 28, 2023

McLeansville

On Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, Paul Douglas Johnson, 45, went home to be with his Lord and Savior.  Paul was born on July 26, 1978.

Paul is survived by his parents Dwight and Dianne Johnson, his bonus parents Chris and Dama Stewart, brother Roger Johnson, and sister Kim Johnson Osborne, his niece Kayla Osborne, nephews Edward Madison, Don Madison (Lexi), and Daniel Johnson (Criselle), seven great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.

Paul was preceded in death by grandparents Gilbert and Ruth Johnson, Rex and Melba Hicks, sister-in-law Genny Johnson, and nephew Jéan Madison.

Paul was a longtime member of Apple’s Chapel in Gibsonville, where he faithfully attended.  He always had his Bible and a disarming smile.

Paul loved his family, friends, church family, and anyone he ever met.  He never met a stranger.  If you met him once, he made a lasting impression.  He loved people and had a gift of encouragement to everyone he met. In fact, the only person Paul did not care for was whoever was playing the Panthers on Sunday.  Through his handicap, Paul allowed Jesus’ Light to shine through and he loved everyone with the love God placed in his heart, always generous with his hugs.  Paul never lived his life feeling sorry for himself, he was always concerned for others: the sick, shut-ins, and those going through difficult times.  He always included them in his prayers.  Paul loved music since he could walk, singing along with his radio or his CD player, or playing his keyboard, learning by ear.

He prayed for his Carolina Panthers, faithfully cheering them on, regardless of the outcome.  Paul lived his life to the fullest.

A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Apple’s Chapel on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM. It will be available for live stream at http://appleschapel.com/watch-live.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Apple’s Chapel or American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give
