Patsy Pennington Harwood

Patsy J. Pennington Harwood, 82, passed away on 24 January 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on March 14, 1937 to the late Nathan and Evie Pennington, she was a native of Alamance County and was married to the late William D. Harwood. She is survived by two sons, Greg (Linda) and Douglas (Renate), three grandchildren; Scott, Natascha (Mario) and Michelle (Florian) and six great grandchildren; Lara, Nina, Dana, Jacob, Josephine, and Jonathan. Pat is also survived by her brother Howard Pennington of Elon, NC and sister-in-laws Helen Pennington of Westerville, OH and Rosa Pennington of Gibsonville, NC. She preceded in death by her siblings Doris Ann, Mary Ruth, Ervin, John and Donald Pennington.

After retiring from her position as Head Teller and until her illness, she was an active member of the Damascus United Methodist Church and volunteered at the "Harwood House" Thrift Shop. Patsy also volunteered with the Hospice of Frederick County. An avid card player, she enjoyed her lunches and bridge games with her friends. As a true Tarheel fan, she was known to take the phone off the hook during Carolina games.

A viewing will be Thursday, January 30th from 11:00 am to 1:45pm with services at 2 pm at Lowe's Funeral home in Burlington, NC. The burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church in Burlington.
