Gibsonville – Pat Delacy Sides, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following several years of failing health. He was born in Liberty on May 26, 1937 to the late Raymond Carlton Sides and Ruby Moser Pattishall and was the husband of 62 years to Shirley Ann McClain Sides of the home.
Pat was a proud veteran, having faithfully served in the US Marines and was of the Methodist faith. He worked many years as a truck driver for Associated Transport before later retiring from Carolina Freight. Pat enjoyed shooting pool, bowling with his wife and was an avid UNC Tarheel, Dallas Cowboy and NASCAR fan, although his true joy was found in playing with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Rickey Sides (Lottie); daughters, Denise Upchurch, Patricia “Patsy” Albright (John), Sharon Tucker (Michael), Cathy Cook, Jennifer Turner (Chris); fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Stanfield, Frances Sides and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Sutton; brother, Raymond Sides and granddaughter, Kamryn Turner.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Gaddy with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at his home.
