Otis Holland

Otis Reid Holland, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on October 16, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Reuben and Fannie Baker Holland, and was the husband of Margie Lee Mitchell Holland of the home. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on April 17th.

Otis was the former owner and operator of Holland Manufacturing. He was a charter member of Beacon Baptist Church and everyone knew him as the "Bubble Gum Man". He was a member of the Senior Golf team and he enjoyed playing golf with his friends.

Survivors other than his wife, Margie Holland include his sisters, Margaret Carden and husband, Garfield, and Barbara Garland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Helen Holland, Leon and Shirley Holland, Richard and Patricia Holland, James Holland; and his special family, Denise Cheek, Robert and Valarie Webb; special granddaughters, Miranda Carter, Ginger Gisi, Krista and Kayli Webb; and three great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Holland; brothers, Clarence, Bill, Frank and John Holland; sisters, Ruby Atkins and Emma Cheek.

The funeral will be held 12 noon Friday, March 3, 2017 at Beacon Baptist Church by Rev. Greg Barkman and Rev. Bob LaTour with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff in the ICU Department at Alamance Regional Medical Center for all their loving care that was shown to Otis, and to their family, friends and neighbors for all their support and thoughtfulness.
