On March 7, 2007, we lost a great friend in Oscar Wayne Hines, to a lengthy battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 45. He was born on May 11, 1961, to Wesley and Mabel Forbes Hines in McLeansville, Wayne grew up helping his father on the family farm and graduated from Eastern Guilford High School. Known for his easy manner and dedicated work ethic, Wayne farmed until his illness stopped him from continuing the work he loved. Hines Farm was his lifes work. While farming was his passion, it was the McLeansville Volunteer Fire Department where for 23 years he found camaraderie and friendship. Station # 7 was an extended home to Wayne, where he was surrounded by the men he grew up with, who became the men who worked by his side. Wayne made his home with his wife, Debbie Jobe Hines, and his beloved German Shepard, Max. A heart felt thank you must be said to Dr. Choksi and the ARMC Oncology staff for their friendliness and tireless pursuit in treating Wayne. Also, Debbie would like to thank, Janet Barker at Sonoco for her support and assistance. He further survived by his sister, Dawn Coleman and her husband, Lance and their children, Shane and Faith of McLeansville. Wayne was comforted during his valiant fight by his wife, Debbie, and with the love, support and friendship of his step children, Charlie and Cathy Gerner, his best friends, Doug and Cathy Hinton, Kenny Register, Lisa Moser, Donny Shepherd, Sonny Coffman and his extended family, Tommy and Cathy Jobe, Jeanette and David Register and Raymond and Faye Jobe. But most importantly: A farmer, fireman, husband, brother and friend, Wayne wore many hats to many different people, but all have been touched by his kindness and ever extended helping hand. While his spirit has left, his actions will reverberate for many life times to come. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hines Chapel by Rev. Milton Wilder and Rev. Jimmy Bledsoe and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Anyone wishing to say a final farewell to Oscar Wayne Hines is invited to Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, March 9, 2007 for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. The family wishes that instead of flowers that a token of appreciation and gratitude be sent to The Hospice Home, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, for the love and care shown to Wayne and the compassion and concern given to Debbie. Memorials may also be made to the donors favorite charity or church close to the givers heart, so others may reap goodwill from the show of love and friendship to Wayne Hines and his family. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com
