Orel "OJ" Everhart

Orel “OJ” Johnson Everhart, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Artiss Theodore and Isla Pearl Lee Everhart and was the husband of Linda Everhart for 54 years who survives.

Orel retired from security at AMI, Inc. and served in the U.S. Army. He served three tours in Vietnam.  “OJ” served faithfully His Lord and in the Riverdale Baptist Church as a deacon.  He loved music and was a self-taught musician. And he was an avid outdoorsman. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and proud grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Linda Everhart; daughters: Candace Everhart Haizlip (Kevin) of Elon, Tracy Everhart Woodward (Todd) and Tonya Everhart Snead (Eddie) both of Burlington; grandchildren: Miranda Roberts (Casey), Karmen Gregory (Austin), Aaron Snead, Neil Haizlip, Paige Haizlip and Monica Woodward; great grandchildren: Landon, Laila, Brynlee, Carter, Hudson and Bentley; and sister, Rosemary Everhart; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Riverdale Baptist Church by Rev. Johnathan Graves and Rev. Walter Jones.  Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening, September 7, 2021 from 5-7:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
