McLeansville, NC Opal Lee Wall Newsome, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital Surrounded by her family. She was a native of Surry County and the daughter of the late Cebron Milton Wall and Lectie Simpson Wall. Opal retired after 30 years with Lorillard Tobacco in Greensboro. She was a talented cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Opal enjoyed flower gardening and listening to country music. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Hauck of Columbia, South Carolina and her sons, Harold Newsome and his wife, Peggy of Whitsett, Eddie Newsome and his fiance, Laura of Liberty and Donnie Newsome and his wife, Carolyn of Wake Forest; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Roxie Kinley of High Point and a brother, Raymond Milton Wall and his wife, Ruth of Sophia. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Herman, Bob, Elmer and Garfield Wall and sisters, Ruby McGee and Lela Hoover. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jack Lemons and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Guilford County, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
