Olevia Ross Lassiter, 85, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at her home. A native of Alamance County, she was born April 24, 1936 to the late John Henon Ross and Julia Vivian Moore Ross and was the wife of 55 years to the late Hal Vernon Lassiter.
Olevia was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she served in Ladies Fellowship and was a member of the church choir and the Stewardship Committee. For most of her career she worked in textiles and was a member of Daughters of the Revolution and the Eastern Star. She was also a competitive ballroom and Latin dancer where she won several awards and served as the genealogist for the Somers-Summers family. She enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, canning and catering. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherrie Lassiter and fiancé Rick Longest, Sheila Walker and husband Hugh Walker and Susan Moore and husband Keith Moore; grandchildren: Laura Moore Chamberlain (Nathan), Travis Moore (Lacey); great grandchildren, Aden Nance, Emerson Chamberlain, Parker Chamberlain, Brantley Moore, Ainsley Moore; step grandchildren, Tabitha Moore (Garland), Benjamin Walker (Heather); step great grandchildren, Riley Walker, Mason Walker, Garland Moore, Jr. and fiancé Becca Sharpe, Lukas Moore, Cody Moore, Cheyenne Moore, Hailey Chamberlain, Shea Tidwell; sisters, Mary Jane R. Freeman (Charles), Linda R. Davis (Wayne); brothers, Jerry Ross and friend Brenda Summers, Gary Ross (Shirley); brother-in-law, Currie Lee Lassiter; sister-in-law, Carolyn Greer and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Keith Randall Lassiter; sister, Louise R. Johnson; brother, Cecil Ross.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Todd Felkel and Rev. Juanita Faison with the interment to follow at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at Susan’s home, 3562 Stoney Creek Church Rd., Elon.
