Burlington - The great cloud of witnesses enjoying Heaven with our eternal Heavenly Father was privileged to welcome home Norwood Elvis "Woody" Bostic on Sunday, September 14, 2008. Woody was a longtime resident of Burlington. He was an active member of the Altamahaw Civitan and a faithful pillar of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church where he had also served as an elder. Among those celebrating his home coming are his loving, dedicated wife of 64 years and his immediate family, Bill, Joanne, Jason, Samuel and Rebecca. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Woody retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. While serving in the Navy, he was a WWII survivor of the sinking of the USS Wasp in 1942. After the service, he went on to obtain a master's degree in education. He worked with the NC Dept. of Public Instruction as a regional director of vocational education programs for many years. He leaves us a rich legacy of faithful service, loyalty and deep love for family and friends. Dad you are surely missed but never forgotten. The memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church by Rev. Ken Hickey. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 42453 Charlotte, NC 28215-0008 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staff at White Oak Manor and Alamance Regional Medical Center for the love and care they bestowed upon Mr. Bostic.
