Burlington Mrs. Nora Ward Perdue of 3073 Durham St. Ext., passed away Saturday August 22, 2009. A native of Person County, she was the wife of the late Albert F. Perdue and daughter of the late E.D. and Maud Sallie Ward. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was a Red Hat Lady. She was employed by Burlington Industries and later retiring from Frissell Fabrics. Mrs. Perdue is survived by her daughter, Shirley Underwood of the home; son Junior Ward and wife Margie of Burlington; sister, Thelma Summers of Burlington; grandchildren, Douglas Underwood and Rodney Ward; great grandchildren Jennifer U. Currin, Trevor Underwood, Andrea Ward, James Robert Ward, Taylor Ward, Brandon Ward and Christy Troutman; great great grandchild, Jackson Currin. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters, Reba Mae Ward Eastwood, Luvenia Ward Barber and Pearl Ward Snead; brothers, Eligah, Tim, Luther "Buck", Stephen and Louis Ward. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday at the Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker, Rev. Bobby Fann and Rev. Jim Rosser. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Perdue will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
