Whitsett, NC Mrs. Nola Lea Woodard, 89, is now at rest with her Lord. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter Sarah, on Monday, January 17th. She was born on October 22, 1921 the daughter of the late James Monroe and Lahla Gerner. She spent her life taking care of her family. She loved her garden and flowers, and not a blade of grass was to be found due to her many hours of gardening. We reaped the rewards of all that hard work. We got to enjoy all of her wonderful home cooked meals. She never knew how many she was cooking for but there was always plenty to go around. She was especially famous for her biscuits. She was a long time, devoted member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ. She married Noral Woodard who preceded her in death in 1975. They built quite a life together and were an example to all of us as to what a Christian marriage should be. The worn bible and its marker remind us that our family was built on faith and love. They were blessed with 4 children. Surviving daughter is Sarah CrabtreeEd. She was preceded in death by her sons Clyde, Willie and Wayne Woodard. Grandchildren are Kimberly Smith O'Hara Frank, Kevin Woodard Becky, Mark Woodard Tammy, & William Woodard Angela. Great Grandchildren-Autumn O'Hara, Ashley O'Hara O'Connor Ryan, Brett Woodard, Brittany Woodard, Dylan Woodard, Colton Woodard & Casey Woodard Great-Great Granddaughter-Kyleigh Dawn O'Connor She came from a large family of brothers and sisters and loved each one of them dearly. Her surviving siblings are: Mary Susan Allison, Daisy Greeson, Margaret Plummer and Connie Gerner. Preceded in death by Brothers John, George, Tom and Charlie Gerner and Sister Elizabeth Greeson Our family has always been blessed by so many wonderful neighbors and friends. We cherish each and every one of you. A special thank you to Goldie Sawyer. You have been such a faithful neighbor. An angel in disguise. It has meant more to us than you will ever know. A special thank you to Hospice. To Vickie, Bonnie and Lou, for your kindness and unending support. We couldn't have made it through without you. Most of all, thank you Mom/Grandma. It is from you that we have learned some of life's most important lessons. We've never heard you speak unkindly of anyone. You've always been there for us, no matter how we may have hurt you. Your strong faith, your work ethic, your forgiving spirit will stay with us forever as will your amazing heart. The family will be at Nola's home in Whitsett to receive friends and family.
