Nikolaos Fotiou

Burlington-"Nikolaos "Nick" Fotiou of Burlington North Carolina passed away at home on Tuesday, April the 4th at 8:30 PM surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimers disease at the age of 74. He was the eldest of three children born in Athens Greece to parents Menelaos and Eleni Fotiou.
Nick was married to the love of his life, Eleftheria "Terry" Fotiou since August the 25th, 1974. Nick was best known for running "Nick's Cafe'" in Elon with his wife for over 20 years where he was quick to talk politics but more often about his passion for the UNC Tar-heel Basketball teams and their former coach, Dean Smith. It is very fitting that he was able to stay with us long enough for the Tar-Heels to cut down the nets one more time before he left to be with God.
He is survived by his wife Eleftheria, his children, Eleni Fotiou-Madren and husband Rodney, Manny Fotiou and Stephanie Thompson and George Fotiou along with his four grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 am by Father George Vlahos. The burial will follow at Pine Hill cemetery in Burlington across from the city park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm with a Traditional Greek Orthodox prayer service at 6:30 on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church 2150 West Front St. Burlington, NC 27215 or Hospice of Alamance 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215 for their incredible attention to making sure his life was as comfortable as possible. We will always carry your memory in our hearts and strive to continue to make you proud. "
