Nicholas Weis

Nicholas Jonathan Weis was granted his permanent angel wings on June 25th, 2010 following a courageous 7 year battle with brain tumors. Nicholas was born June 28, 2000. He was 9 years old. Nicholas' life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile and laugh could melt the hearts of those around him. Nicholas possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He loved his radio "job" telling his jokes on 93.1 The Wolf which helped people start their day with a smile and laugh. Nicholas was also heard on G105 and remembered for his participations in the Bob's Buddies Radiothons for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. He loved school, reading books, telling jokes, attending Monster Jam events, riding on his Dad's motorcycle and going to the beach. He was an honorary Blue Knight and was an ambassador for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in an effort to spread awareness, encouragement and hope in the pursuit of a cure for this terrible disease. He never met a stranger and truly appreciated all of his friends, listeners and his River Mill Academy Family. With Nicholas' passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his constant smile, contagious laugh and the signature thumbs up. He will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about hope, courage, strength and love for life, we were able to create a lifetime of wonderful memories in just a few short years. It has been an honor and privilege to be his parents. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Jonathan and Heather Weis of Mebane, NC; Grandparents: Jerry and Diane Weis of Pinehurst, NC, Lynn Christman of Burlington, NC, Al Christman of Grove City, PA; and Great Grandfather Chester Hammond of Cannan, NH. Aunts and Uncles: Kathy and Dave Yereb of Winchester, VA; Eric and Jill Weis of Alamo, California; John and Marie Riedesel of Carthage, NC. Cousins: Alexa and Lauren Weis, Holly and Lydia Riedesel. Thousands of extended "family" through the radio audiences. We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous outpouring of support that our family has received during this most challenging time. All of the thoughts and prayers gave us the courage we needed to get through each day. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at The Lamb's Chapel with Pastor Bob Templeton officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
