Neoma McKinney

Burlington, NC Neoma Wilson McKinney, age 79, of 81 DC Oakley Road went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2007 at her home. She was a native of Person County and the wife of 59 years to the late John Wesley McKinney, Sr. Neoma was a homemaker and she retired from GE in Mebane. She was a member of Baynes Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Neoma enjoyed writing poetry and spending time working outside pulling briars and helping on the farm. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Hagood and her husband, Clifton of Burlington, Cathy Taylor and her husband, Paul of Burlington; sons and daughters-in-law, John Wesley McKinney, Jr. and his wife, Dot, Ira McKinney and his wife, Hope, Darrell McKinney and his wife, Martha all of Burlington; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernease Humphries and her husband, Ralph of Burlington, Erma Dean Brookbank and her husband, Larry of Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Carlton Wilson and his wife, Maedean of Elon, Glen Wilson and his wife, Linda of Burlington; brother-in-law, Billy McKinney and his wife, Barbara of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Michael Mike McKinney; parents, William Ira and Addie Chambers Wilson; brothers, Bruce, Melvin and Joe Wilson. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Baynes Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Williams and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of the daughter, Cathy Taylor, 2489 Fitch Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
