Nellie Ruth Shaw Shepherd Moore, 95 passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. There is now a new special angel in Heaven. Nellie was born in Guilford County to the late George Grier and Pauline Greeson Shaw and lived in Guilford County her entire life.
Nellie retired from Belk-Beck after 30 years as the department head in the China and Gifts department. She was a lifetime member at Brick Reformed Church where she also sang in the choir and baked many pies and cakes for the spring and fall suppers at the church. She was the mother of her two children as well as second mother to many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Shepherd and wife, Sharon; her daughter, Melody Kaye Mikell and husband, Don; step children, Richard Moore and wife, Debbie; Beckie Isley; Brenda McCain and husband, Larry; and Wanda Moore; grandchildren, Jeremy and Lara; Jennifer; Jennifer and Mark; Alison and Andy; Krista and Evan; 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; and brother, Glen Shaw and wife, Alma Lou. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Erwin A. Shepherd; and her second husband Willie James Moore; brothers, JB Shaw, Bill Shaw and John Shaw; sisters, Carlene Neese, Toby Watts, Ruby Neese and Bobbie Shaw.
A service to celebrate Nellie’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Brick Reformed Church by Rev. Geoff Lalone. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45-10:45 am at the church and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brick Reformed Church Building Fund, 3699 Brick Church Rd, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Alamance Authoracare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
