Gibsonville - Nellie Hanner Edmonds, age 86, of McIntyre Road went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. She was a native of Guilford County and the wife of the late Floyd Samuel "Sam" Edmonds who died on October 15, 2008. Nellie was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church. She was employed for many years with Liberty Hosiery Mill and with Bates Nitewear and in her later years worked in the cafeteria at McLeansville School. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Tommy Aheron of Gibsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cathy Edmonds of McLeansville and James and Kathleen Edmonds of Rochester, Massachusetts; daughter-in-law, Sue Edmonds of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Julie Wall Rick of Providence, Rhode Island, Kim Vincent of Greensboro, Jeff Edmonds of Atlanta, Ga., Cheryl Lemonds Todd of Troy, Kelly Ferguson Tom of Gibsonville, Melissa Kruep Andy High Point, Jennifer Foster Jeremy of Burlington, Ronald Robinson Penny Gibsonville, Danika Sharek of Rochester, Mass and Dylan Sharek of Charleston, SC; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Lena Cooper of Greensboro; brother and sister-in-law, Coy and Doris Hanner of Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, "Joe Sam" Edmonds, parents, Claude Leslie and Millie Bowman Hanner, sisters, Carrie Hanner Greeson and Viola Pearl Hanner, and a brother, John "Sam" Hanner. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at LeBauer Healthcare at Stoney Creek and Karren Patterson for their compassionate care during Nellie's illness. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at McLeansville Baptist Church by Dr. Jack Lemons and Rev. Nila Souther with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
