Nathanuel Leo Gann, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 04, 2014 at the Hospice Home. Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Maxie Hawkins Gann and was the husband of the late Dorothy Lee Barts Gann. Leo attended Altamahaw Baptist Church and retired from D&K Mechanical Contractors. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War, 40th division 160th infantry regiment, "California's Own". He spent much of his time restoring antique tractors but his true happiness came from spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his daughters, Debra Kay Gann and Michelle Gann Bowes and husband, Dana, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Tia Wirbelauer and Scottie Strickland; step grandson, Dustin Bowes and a sister, Shirley Apple and husband, George of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Mabel Gann Trent. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, January 6, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Caswell County by Pastor Howard Thompson and Pastor Steve Tucker. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
