Gibsonville-Nannie Evans Newell, 88, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Walter William Newell and the daughter of the late Jessie Elijah and Gladys Simpson Evans.
Nannie retired from the Guilford County School system after 35 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Gibsonville Church of God. Nannie enjoyed gardening and especially growing flowers. She also loved going to Gospel singings and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, June Watson and husband, Larry of Gibsonville, Barbara Ann Newell and Betty Newell both of the home; son, Larry Evans and wife, Polly of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Michael Evans, Jeremy Evans, Jessie Newell and Shawn Starling; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Fuller , Mary Putnam and Gladys “Geneva” King all of Burlington; sister-in-law, Judy Evans of Gibsonville; daughter-in-law, Dottie Plummer of Liberty. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, David Newell, parents and a brother, Elijah “Buddy” Evans and sisters, Evelyn Hayden and Ollie Mae Evans.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 2PM at Gibsonville Church of God and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
