BURLINGTON, NC - Nancy Burton Walker Kistler, 95, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, after several years of declining health.

Born on January 5, 1926, to the late Rosser Loy Walker and Blanche Burton Walker.  Nancy grew up in the Stoney Creek Community where she lived most of her life.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James S. Kistler, and her sister, Jean Walker Sadler Primm.  She is survived by her four loving children: Jimmy Kistler (Mollie), Karen Greene (Joe), John Kistler (Christi), and Lynn Lawrence (Hank); nine grandchildren: Wendy Kistler Hargrove, Jamie Kistler (Amber), Neil Kistler (Bethany), Joey Greene (Courtney), Dawn Atkins (Clint), Janna Elliott (Ray), Jeremy Kistler (Ashley), Corrie Florence and Kaitlin Kistler (Robbie); 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy joined the US Nurse Cadet Corp in 1943 and obtained her Registered Nurse License in 1947.  She provided care to patients in hospital settings as well as multiple health clinics.  “Mrs. Kistler,” as she was known to her students, retired from teaching Health Occupations at Western Alamance High School in 1986.  In retirement, “Nanny” and “PawPaw” enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, traveling and spending time in Linville, NC.

Nancy was a life-long member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served in various capacities including childhood pianist, Trustee, Elder and Choir Director.

The family would like to thank Annette Williams and AuthoraCare Hospice for taking such loving care of Miss Nanny.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church (2140 Stoney Creek Church Road, Burlington, NC), with the Reverend Randy Wellford officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stony Creek Presbyterian Church Building/Cemetery Fund, North Central Alamance Volunteer Fire Department or AuthoraCare Hospice.
