Nancy Hood

Mrs. Nancy Jean Mabe Hood, age, 79, of Graham, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at her residence after a sudden illness.

Born in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Otis William Mabe and the late Frances Minerva Chilton Mabe Evans and was married to the late Waverly Thomas Hood, Jr.  She was retired from MCR Textiles and was of the Baptist faith.  Nancy was very active and enjoyed gardening and cooking and especially loved music and dancing.

Mrs. Hood is survived by her daughter, Julie Guerrero and her husband, Oscar; her son, Larry Douglas Leonard; nine grandchildren, Juliette Guerrero, Oscar Guerrero, Jr., Thomas Guerrero, Christian Guerrero, Christine Bellamy, Ashley Baxley, Candice Leonard, Amanda Leonard and Brandon Leonard; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Geneva Speas and husband, Ray, Helen Stamtas and Shirley Saunders; a brother, Russell Evans; and two step-sisters, Cindy Mabe Hobby and Rebecca Wilson.  She was preceded by her husband; parents; step-father, Jimmy Evans; a step-sister, Donna Cook; and a step-brother, Danny Ray Mabe.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
