Saxapahaw-Nadine Layton Jones Maness, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Randolph County to the late Armp Samuel and Bertie Wicker Layton. She was the wife of the late John R. Jones and George Winfred Maness.
Nadine retired from M.C.R. Corporation. She was a longtime member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church, member of the Macie May Sunday School Class and the Women’s Missionary Society. Nadine had a green thumb and especially enjoyed flower gardening. She was devoted to her family and church.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Faye Jones Tulloch and husband, Wayne of Saxapahaw; sons, William David Jones of Gibsonville and Kenneth Dale Jones and wife, Barbara Hall Jones of Liberty; step son, George Ray Maness and wife, Shirley of Burlington; 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and 19 great great great grandchildren; sister, Veral Layton Lineberry and husband, Marvin of Liberty. She was preceded in death by; husbands, parents; infant daughter, Linda Darlene Maness; step daughter, Carolyn Maness Stutts Mansfield; step son, Jerry Boyd Maness; sister, Audrey Hemphill; brothers, Thomas and Armp Junior Layton; granddaughter, Robin Stutts and a great grandson, Curtis Warren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2PM at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by Rev. David Grinnell and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12;15-1:45pm on Friday prior to the service at the church.
