Myrtle Wilson

Elon Myrtle Long Wilson, 95, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Alamance Health Care. Born on May 22, 1917 in Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Jule Curry and Mae Frederick Long and was the wife of the late Felix Warren Wilson. Mrs. Wilson was a lifelong member of Davis St. United Methodist Church. She was also a dedicated member of T.O.P.S. 109 and was self-employed as a seamstress which became a lifetime hobby. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Bare and husband, Sonny of Burlington, Judy Billings and husband, Ralph of Elon, Brenda Woody and husband, Warren of Greenville, SC, Dovie Sisk and husband, Gary of Burlington and Jean Couturier and husband Butch of Haw River; grandchildren, Janice Lloyd, Tommy Bare, Joyce Ritter, Mike Billings, Robbie Billings, Todd Billings, Nate Woody, Kim Golter, Dana Harley, Amy Wilkie, Julie Wilson, Bryan Couturier, Brad Couturier, twenty-four great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and sister, Nell Thompson of Graham. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a granddaughter, Diane Bare; brothers, J.C. Long, Jr., Nick Long and Daily Long; and sisters, Katie Smith, Pauline Waddell, Ann Long, and Frances Burdette. A funeral service will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Davis St. United Methodist Church by Rev. McCubbin with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45pm prior to the service at the church. The family would like to offer a special thanks to all of the employees at Alamance Health Care as well as the nurses at The Hospice Home.
