Myrtle Starling

Myrtle Porter Starling, 72, of 103 S. Broad St. went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 23, 2006 after six months of failing health and five weeks critical. She was the wife of Grady A. Starling for forty-six and a half years. She was the daughter of the late Melvin Seth Thomas Porter and the late Emma Poole Porter. Myrtle was a native of Alamance County and she attended New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of the home, sons; Gary E. Murphy, Grady Keith Starling both of Burlington, a sister Dorothy Simpson of Burlington, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Walter Thomas Murphy, a sister Rachel Wilson, brothers; Frank Porter, Pearl Porter, Paul Porter, Odell Porter, Ollie Porter, Grady Porter and Arthur Porter. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hobbs and Rev. David Reed. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home of her sister Dorothy Simpson, 1716 S.
