Myrtis Lacock Williams, age 85, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at her home after several months of failing health. Born on March 18, 1930, in Orange County, she was the daughter of the late S. Forrest Lacock and the late Lula Johnson Lacock and was married to Darnell Hubert Williams, who died in 1971. Myrtis retired from Lucent Technologies with over 32 years of service and was a longtime member of Springwood Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and an Elder. Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Darnell H. Williams II and his wife, Cathy, of Burlington; her daughter, Cynthia Smith and her husband, J.T., of Gibsonville; three grandchildren, Darnell H. (Melissa) Williams III, Tasha (Dennis) Jordan and B.J. (Anna) Smith; four great grandchildren, Neil, Samantha, Katie and Stephen; a brother, F. Wayne (Carolyn) Lacock of Chapel Hill; three special nieces; one great niece; and three great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Daphene Lacock Dobson; a brother-in-law, H. Dobson; and a nephew, John Dobson. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Springwood Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Frank Covington. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
