Greensboro, NC Myra Thompson Long went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital surrounded by her family on her 68th birthday. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late Alex William and Ethel Mae Faucette Thompson. Myra retired after 30 years with Motor Carriers Traffic Association. She was most recently employed by American Greeting Cards. Myra was a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church and a graduate of Pleasant Garden High School. She participated in a Bowling League with her son for several years. She loved animals especially her 2 cats "Poo Boo" and "Cornelius" and her dog "Marco". Myra will always be remembered for her strong work ethic and her love for her family. Survivors include her son, Joseph Alexander Hockett of Greensboro and her daughter, Tammy Long Reece and husband, Stephen Feldschuh of New York City, NY; grandchildren, Joseph Alexander Hockett, II of Wilmington and Michelle Bishop of Asheville, Samantha and Alexa Feldschuh; great grandson, Christian Bishop of Asheville. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Thompson. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Shallow Ford Christian Church by Dr. S. Perry and Chaplain Chris Morris and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
