Master Sergeant Robert Eugene Ries USAF, Retired, 80, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born October 6, 1936 in Akron, OH to the late Ford and Florence Ries and was married to Ann Damiano Ries for thirty years. Robert loved his country and served over thirty years in the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed baking and wood working. He was a lifelong NASCAR fan. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Annie Johnson and husband Len, Stephanie Michelet and husband Dan Clapper, Robyn Scherer and husband Rob; sons, Tony Michelet Jr, and wife Debbie, David Michelet and wife Sharon, Jim Michelet and wife Julie, Joe Mattingly and wife Lillian; brothers, Larry Ries and wife Linda, Don Ries and wife Doris; grandchildren, Josh Kramer, Tiffany Kramer, Jesse Kramer, Meghan Ignoffo, Ashlyn Michelet, Samantha Michelet, Britnee Marie Michelet, Kayla Danko, Brandon Mattingly, Josephine Scherer, Bella Scherer, Wyant Scherer, Tony Michelet III, Kaylee Ellison, Aaron Michelet and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Jodi Ries and a son Danny Michelet.
The funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM, Monday October 2, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Vincent Rubino, OFM. Conv. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10-10:45 Monday at the church prior to the service.
