Mozelle Setzer Whitten, age 79, of S. Gurney Street went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Shelby and the wife of the late Howard Floyd Whitten. Mozelle retired from Medtox after many years. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. Mozelle was an instrumental part of the Widows Support Group at Grove Park Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Hodge and her husband, Kenny of Burlington and Janice Porterfield and her husband, Paul of Oak Ridge, NC; grandchildren, Scott Hodge and his wife Michele of Burlington, Christa Davis and her husband Bill of Burlington, Jason Witter of Charlotte, Michelle Norris and her husband John of Germany; great grandchildren, Jonathon Hodge, Haden Norris and Lilyana Davis; sisters, Nora Mae Harvey of Burlington, Catherine Baker of Burlington and Jean Lattimer of Spartanburg, SC and a brother, Archie Setzer of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Jules Milton and Maudie Crisco Setzer; sister, Mildred Belangia; brothers, Lawrence, Fred and Lonnie Setzer. The service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and Rev. Randy Hobbs with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
