Burlington Mozelle Shanklin Hoggard, age 90, of 918 Trail 8, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Hospice Home. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Oby Hoggard and daughter of the late Will and Annie Smith Shanklin. She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church and attended New Life Church at Burlington. She retired from May Hosiery Mill and was later employed by Olan Mills. Mrs. Hoggard is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Lib" Rudd and husband Linwood of Burlington; daughter in law, Carolyn Hoggard of Burlington; sister, Mrs. May Scott of Graham; grandchildren, Annette Rose and husband Sammy, Lisa Hudson and husband Jeff, Michelle Gusler and Frankie Hoggard; great grandchildren, Dylan, Sherry, Nathan, Taylor and Ashton; great great grandchild, Bailey. Special friends, Hazel May, Linda Montgomery, Linda Fogleman, Sandra Allred and Rev. Ralph Rivers. She was preceded in death by her husband Oby Hoggard; son, Frank Hoggard; sister, Agnes Portis and brother, Arthur Shanklin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bruce Church and Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Hoggard will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Friday and at other times the home of Lib and Linwood Rudd; 918 Trail 8, Burlington, NC. The family will like to thank the Hospice staff for the special care they gave Mozelle. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
