Montie McLendon Loy, 95, passed away Sunday June 7, 2015 at Brookdale Nursing Center Clare Bridge after several years of failing health. She was born December 14, 1919 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Charlie and Frannie Creps McLendon. She was married to the late James Harold Loy for sixty-eight years. Montie had worked for Holt Hosiery and Hinshaws Mfg. for many years. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed surf fishing with her husband. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church for over 55 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughter Linda Dan Rutland of Franklin, TN; a son Douglas Loy and partner Carol Jones of Haw River; a grandson Jason Vickie Fogleman of TN. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Maggie Dennis, Jenny Mae Brewer, Minnie Lea McRae; brothers, Leonard McLendon, Travis McLendon, Ralph McLendon, Willis McLendon and Neil McLendon. The graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Henry Swanzey. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Clare Bridge now Brookdale and Hospice for the care and love shown to their mother. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or Friendship United Methodist Church, 4612 Friendship-Patterson Mill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
