Burlington, NC Minnie Arndt Beard, age 97, formerly of Tucker Street went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Catawba County and the wife of the late Odell Yerke Beard. Minnie was a homemaker and longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she received Mother of the Year in 1975. She was actively involved in her church serving on various committees and singing in the church choir. Minnie served as a volunteer for Alamance County Meals on Wheels for many years. She was also a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jake Way of Burlington; sons, Wayne Beard of Hickory, Jerry Beard of Greensboro; ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Mildred Faucetteand her husband, Luther Faucette; daughter-in-law, Nesta Beard; two infant daughters; grandson, Jerry Todd Beard; parents, David Augustus and Mary McRee Arndt; sisters, Nellie Starnes Kizziah, Sallie Arndt Herman and Edna Bowman Morris; brothers, Henderson "Bud" Arndt and Marcus Arndt. The Beard family would like to express their appreciation to the Staff and Nurses of ARMC, Alamance Health Care Center and Dr. Ernest Eason for their kindness to Minnie during her years of failing health. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Darrel Kroeze and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday and other times at the home of her daughter.
