Gibsonville, NC Millie Dennis Millikan, 98 formerly of Ingle Street in Gibsonville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Ashton Place surrounded by her family. She was born in Randolph County to the late Doom Hayes Dennis and Etta Jones Dennis. She was the wife of the late Millis W. Millikan. Millie retired from Tower Hosiery Mills after many years. She was a member of Gibsonville Christian Church where she was the former church pianist. She was a youth Sunday School teacher and sang in a quartet at the church for many years. Millie enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Wilma Hadley and husband, Charles of Greensboro; sons, Phillip Millikan and his wife, Pat of Elon and Gary Millikan of Burlington; grandchildren, Tommy Rochelle Millikan, Donna Donnie Meadors, Michael Cathy Millikan, Stephen Millikan, Chris Millikan, Diana Craig Foster, Darren Elizabeth Hadley and Deborah Swainey; 10 great grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Ann Millikan . She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, William "Bill" Millikan; parents, grandson, David Millikan and a granddaughter, Darla Hadley and six brothers and sisters. The Millikan family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Ashton Place for their kind and compassionate care for Millie. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Gibsonville Christian Church by Rev. William Baker, Rev. Hobart Isley and Rev. Dale Matthews. The family will receive friends immediately following the services and other times at the home of her son, Phillip Millikan. There will be a private burial at Alamance Memorial Park.
