Mrs. Mildred King Taylor, age 85 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at ARMC after several years of battling Alzheimer's disease. She had been a well loved resident at The Cottage at Blakey Hall since February. She was a native of South Carolina and a graduate of Ford High School in Laurens County, SC, and was the wife of the late Dr. Roy P. Taylor. Mildred retired from Belk's department store after 30 years of service. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and served as the Nursery coordinator for many years. Mildred also helped with the decorating and hospitality at the church and supporting her husband, who pastored at the church for over 20 years. Mildred was a volunteer with Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for many years and loved being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her son, Ric Taylor and wife, Teresa, of Cordova, Tennessee; her daughter, Kaye T. Dobbs and husband, Bobby, of Manteo; her three grandchildren, Taylor Dobbs and wife, Leslie, of Nashville, Tennessee, Anna Dobbs of Charlotte and Lucas Parsons Taylor of Cordova, Tennessee; a brother-in-law; several sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Clarence Wayne King and Myrtis Gwinn King; brothers, Wilton, Wayne and Rossie King. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Benjamin S. Gault, Jr., Rev. Rodger Roach and Rev. Jeff Gardner. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 PM prior to the service at the church and other times at the home on Delaney Drive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mabopane Foundation supporting a children's home in South Africa, 3913 US Hwy 64 W., Apex, NC 27523 or to Feed the Hunger, P.O. Box 2347, Burlington, NC 27216.
