Burlington, NC Mildred Jones Ragan, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Edgewood Place surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Haywood Anderson Ragan. Mildred retired from Eckerd Drugs the Westbrook Avenue location. She was a longtime member of Union Ridge Church and a member of the Ella Fleming Sunday School Class. Mildred was a volunteer with Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Marie Baker and her husband, William of Burlington, Vicki Westbrook and her husband, David of Burlington, Nanette Pedelty and her husband, Larry of Haw River and Darlene Raines and her husband, Jerry of Mebane; sons, David A. Ragan of Burlington and Wayne Ragan and his wife, Martha of Elon; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Joseph Edward Jones and Nannie Sharpe Jones; sister, Minnie Williams Bryant and a brother, Harvey W. Jones, Sr.;daughter-in-law, Eunice Ragan and her beloved pets a cat named "Baby" and a dog named "Snoopy". A Committal service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Ridge Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin and Rev. James Rosser and the burial will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Marie Baker. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Edgewood Place for their kind and compassionate care for Mildred of the past several months. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
