Mildred (Mickie) Louise Hall Hubbard, eighty-nine, passed peacefully from this life to eternal life with Jesus on August 9, 2022.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hubbard Nash and husband, Edward Thomas Nash of Bishop, GA; one son, Halton Keith Hubbard and wife Ina Needham Hubbard, of North Wilkesboro, NC; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mickie is also survived by her twin sister, Margaret Hall Moss, and sister Jain Hall Higgenbotham, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 67 years, Halton Thomas Hubband; one granddaughter, Sandra Arlyne Nash; one sister, Florence Gammon Hayes, and her brother, Steven Allen Hall.
Mickie was born in Pittsylvania County, Vandola Community, Virginia. After marrying Hal, Mickie moved to Burlington, NC, which became her permanent home.
Mickie had a long career working at Sellers Department Store, Burlington, NC. After two decades in retail, Mickie began working for the Burlington City School System. At Andrews Elementary School, she ran the Chapter I reading lab and poured her love and encouragement into many students. It was always a delight to be with Mickie when she ran into one of her former students. They all loved her!
Mickie was a long-time, devoted member of First Baptist Church of Haw River. She carried Meals-on-Wheels for twenty-two years with her husband, Hal. She was the church historian and also served as the Vacation Bible School Arts/Crafts coordinator. Her inspired activities were a hit with parents and children alike. Additionally, Mickie worked with Hal at the Clothes Closet. She sorted, sized, and organized donated clothing items so the patrons could easily find what they needed. Together, Mickie and Hal painted a mural of the Jordan River over the baptismal pool leaving a loving legacy to the church.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Hal, Mickie moved to Cedar Ridge Retirement Community where she developed many precious friends. She loved playing cards and “dime” Bingo. The time there was precious to Mickie, and she dearly loved everyone.
Mickie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Those who knew her count themselves blessed.
