Mildred Horner

Mildred Fulcher "Midge" Horner, 87, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Schoolfield, VA and was the daughter of the late John Smith Fulcher and the late Dolly Merle Roberson Fulcher. She was married for almost 64 years to Dan H. Horner who preceded her in death. Midge retired after over 35 years as billing clerk with the City of Graham. She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church for over 70 years where she played the piano and organ, sang in and occasionally directed the choir, accompanied numerous gospel trios and quartets, and faithfully attended and served until her later years. Her quick, dry wit and the mischievous twinkle in her eye captured the hearts of family and friends who loved to be with her. She is survived by her sons, Dana Horner and wife Lindsay Russell of Tucson, AZ, David Horner and wife Cathy of Raleigh, Don Horner and wife Debbie of Blue Ridge, VA and Dale Horner and wife Arlette of Browns Summit; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Robert "Bobby" Smith Fulcher. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Redding, her pastor, and Rev. David Horner, her son. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her name to Glen Hope Baptist Church of Burlington, NC or Providence Baptist Church of Raleigh, NC.
