Michael Tilley

Burlington - Michael Joseph Tilley, 56, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. He was born in Alamance County on October 31, 1961 to William Thomas Tilley and Rose Gilliam Tilley Morgan.

Michael had a knack for organic gardening. He took pride in the hot sauce he would make from his tomatoes and peppers. He was musically and artistically gifted, enjoyed playing Scrabble and fishing. He was a great cook and worked as a server for several local restaurants including Grill 584, Burke Manor, The Cutting Board and others. Michael also loved animals and leaves behind his canine companions, "Cricket" and "Pepper".

Survivors include his mother; a brother, Bradley Joel Tilley; sister, Donna Marie Tilley; niece, Melissa Rose Tilley; nephews, Nathaniel Thomas Tilley, Aaron Lee Coble and Ryan Dean Coble. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Gregory Thomas Tilley.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dan Ficklin with the burial to follow at Union Ridge Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Burlington Animal Services at 221 Stone Quarry Rd, Burlington, NC 27217.
