Burlington-Michael "Mike" Braxton Perry, age 24 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2015. He was a native of Alamance County and a devoted firefighter. Michael was a firemen with the Burlington Fire Department, receiving in 2015 a Certificate of Commendation for life saving. He was a 2009 graduate of Eastern Alamance High School and in 2013 he received a B.S. degree in Sports Science Physiology and a minor in Health Information from UNC Pembroke. Michael was a member of Lakeview Community Church and attended Lamb's Chapel and City Lake Baptist Church. He was a member and past president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity - ETA Omega Chapter. Michael devoted himself in his calling as a fireman and in service to others in his family and community. He will always be remembered for his positive attitude and winning smile. His other achievements include playing baseball, football and basketball during his middle school years. In 2009he received Most Valuable Player of Eastern Alamance High School in baseball and All Conference in 2008 in football. Michael was in the Honor Society-Alpha Chi and 1st runner up in the Homecoming court in 2008 and on the homecoming court his senior year. Michael was a member of the FCA at Eastern where he umpired Rec ball for 7 years and was a professional umpire/ref for the past 3 years. Survivors include his mother and step father, Debbie and Keith Perry of Burlington; father and step mother, Chris and Tammy Perry of Roxboro and the love of his life and soon to be fiance, Hillary Coleman of Burlington; maternal grandparents, Glenda Alverson of Burlington, Dianne and A.M. Perry of Burlington; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Doris Perry of Burlington, Freeman and Sylvia Nicks of Graham; sisters, Meghan Edwards of Graham and Lindsey Josh Holt of Snow Camp; brothers, Tyler Perry and Kameron Perry of Burlington and Alex Edwards of Burlington; cousins, Ashley and Amanda Graves both of Burlington, Christina Westbrooks of Burlington; aunts and uncles, Robin and Travis Graves and Sherrie and Kenneth Westbrooks all of Burlington; nephews, Kai Holt of Snow Camp and Cameron Nelson of Graham; niece, Lillie Nelson of Graham. He was preceded in death by paternal great grandmother, Rita Perry Rich; maternal great grandparents, Frieda and Emanuel Gunnell. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at The Lamb's Chapel by Rev. Brian Biggers, Rev. Gerald Sanders and Rev. Reid Dickens and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-9 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at The Lamb's Chapel and the body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church for visitation.
