Michael M. Holp, 88, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Michael was born September 8, 1922 in Baggaley, PA, raised in Lemont Furnace, PA, lived in Ohio for a number of years and recently resided in Burlington, NC. Michael was the youngest of six children, born of John & Mary Butella Holp, all who preceded him in death. They were Veronica Husek, John Holp, Joseph Holp, Sr., Helen Lucis and Julia Thomas. Michael proudly served overseas twenty-five months in New Guinea, Philippines and Japan with the 593rd Boat and Shore Regiment during World War II. He entered the Army January 21, 1943 and was honorably discharged January 2, 1946. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 63 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 10607 both in Burlington. Michael is survived by his wife Evelyn Lavenia Abbott Holp who still reside in Burlington. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, who all referred to him as Uncle Mickey. A service to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
